Wolfmother - White Feather
Wolfmother return with new single.
So Wolfmother continue their superior AC/DC and Aerosmith inspired sound with new single ‘White Feather’, resisting the urge to branch out into the mainstream like their contemporaries Kings of Leon. But wow, this is remix overload if ever we saw it. Five extra versions of one song, really?
This should never work, but somehow, much to my chagrin, it does. The title track is another typical old school rock tune, straight out of the 70s with the Burns remix of track two adding a skilled dance vibe to proceedings. But it's the Sebastien Tellier remix where ‘White Feather’ comes alive. It’s a beautifully magic, angelic sound only slightly undone by an overuse of the "You wanted love" lyric which seems to be stuck on repeat. Track four, a Tiedye remix, has a relaxed Acapulco vibe coursing through its veins while the Bang Gang remix takes a while to warm up, eventually turning into an exciting experiment in synthetic dance. Finally the Turzi remix gives us an almost Lynchian, hauntingly moody, piece which is over far too quickly.
So would a fan of Wolfmother really be interested in all these extra modern day dance remixes? I doubt it, but this is a rare success story.
