Frank Turner - Isabel
Ol' Frankie releases a new single. It's pretty good.
Mr Turner is an indie troubadour par excellence and on this sweet track he justifies his place as a winsome balladeer too. ‘Isabel’ is a lovely little song culled from his critically acclaimed album ‘Poetry of the Deed’, one that's steadily gained him a cult following. This sound may be far away from his punk roots with former band Million Dead, but this Eton educated songster still has a bit of bile in his occasionally rasping delivery.
His songs are full of passion and while not everyone’s cup of tea, he performs a job popularised by artists like Pete Doherty and Devendra Banhart; a sort of travelling minstrel who could sit down at any moment and strum out a ditty of heartbreaking intensity. He's sure to be a hit (again) on the festival circuit this summer and this partuicular song won't go amiss in a field somewhere in England. Charming.
