Paramore - Emergency

Fronted by 17-year-old Hayley Williams, Paramore are attempting to follow in the slipstream of label mates Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy as the American invasion gathers pace.

However, the only thing separating 'Emergency' from sounding like a Kelly Clarkson song is a few lacklustre power chords. The vocals are certainly impassioned, and the musicianship is functional, but there's nothing here to inspire a second listen.

There's a distinct sense that this has been done before, and better. Sugar-coated pop comes in many forms, even with heavy riffs and masquerading as serious rock.
