Katy Perry - Hot N Cold
A long time ago she was a Christian singer, but now Katy Perry's kissed a girl and she thinks she liked it. As a result, she's now all over teen press, 'what's hot' and 'what's in' sections and not forgetting the charts. 'Hot N Cold' is the latest single to be lifted from the smash album One Of The Boys and it's everything you'd expect; simple, thumping beats, glossy vocals singing trite lyrics. It's cheesy, camp, and unashamedly poppy, and the video involves a dance routine from a gang of girls in wedding dresses holding baseball bats amongst masses of product placement.
So, awful, yeah? Not really. Thing is, you will hear this once - just once - and then it will pop back inside your head at random points for the next few weeks. When it comes on in the club, unless you've made the conscious effort to tell everyone how awful she is, you will dance to it and you will love it. There's no denying it's co-written pop tat, but there's also no denying it's far better guilty pleasure than the lesbian-tastic song that catapulted her to fame.
