Bowling For Soup - I’m Gay
You can always rely on Bowling For Soup for some fun, right? 'I'm Gay' seems to set itself up for ridicule but the tables are turned; instead of taking itself too seriously, it pokes some light-hearted fun at bands that do take themselves too seriously that seem to have taken over the charts of late, and is jam packed with an upbeat and outright infectious melody.
Things certainly seem to be a little on the sombre and stiff-lipped side of things with music these days, and it's always appreciate when a band actually has something of substance to say, but Bowling For Soup bring some light relief and are clearly out to enjoy themselves, and fly the flag for the good times at the same time.
The line "I think rock 'n' roll is really funny when it's serious," sums it all up perfectly, as does the lines "it's perfectly fine to be a happy individual". Turn up the volume and rejoice that the fun in rock is back at last.
