Sonisphere organisers: “This year’s festival has been cancelled”
"A very challenging year" is the reason for the pulling of this year's fest.
Sonisphere have confirmed that this year's UK festival has been cancelled.
Rumours swirled around Twitter yesterday that the annual rock fest has suffered from poor ticket sales. Today (29th March) organisers released a statement confirming the decision.
The statement reads: "It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012. Putting the festival together in what is proving to be a very challenging year was more difficult than we anticipated and we have spent the last few months fighting hard to keep Sonisphere in the calendar. Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we would be unable to run the festival to a standard that both the artists and that Sonisphere’s audience would rightly expect."
Queen (with guest singer Adam Lambert), Faith No More, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Evanescence and Refused were all set to play the Knebworth event, being held between 6th and 8th July.
All ticket buyers are entitled to a full refund from their point of purchase. It's not yet known if a 2013 festival will go head.
