Confirmed: Slipknot bassist Paul Gray died of drug overdose
The bass player's cause of death is finally revealed
Slipknot member Paul Gray died of a drug overdose, according to a newly issued death certificate.
The bassist's death (reported here) was caused by a lethal combination of injectable substances morphine and fentanyl (a narcotic painkiller). The coroner also confirmed Gray had been suffering from heart disease which may have contributed to the death.
Police officers have suggested that it is possible charges may be filed at some point in the future, as Gray did not have a prescription for either drug. No further details have been made.
A needle was found near the bassist's body after he was discovered at his home in Des Moines, Iowa.
The remaining members of Slipknot have yet to comment on the announcement.
