Biffy Clyro have revealed that they're gearing up to start work on their next album.

The Scottish trio, currently trekking their way across the festival circuit, are to begin full writing sessions for their new longplayer, the follow up to Mercury Prize nominated 'Only Revolutions', this winter.

"When we get some time at home over Christmas, we will start concentrating on the new songs" bassist James told the Daily Record. "We are eager, we are excited but we understand you only get one chance to make a record and we don't want to mess it up, we won't rush it then forever regret it."

The band are expected to record next summer with a view to releasing new material later in the year.

The band recently announced a massive winter arena tour, with tickets for the dates on sale now:

November
25 - Aberdeen AECC
26 - Glasgow SECC
27 - Glasgow SECC
29 - Hull Arena
30 - Nottingham Arena

December
