Green Day Confirm ‘American Idiot’ Musical
Record turned musical will open in their hometown in September!
Green Day have confirmed that their 'American Idiot' album is being turned into a musical.
It's long been rumoured that the massive selling (13 million and counting!) 2004 record was being adapated for the stage, and it's now confirmed to run from September 4th to October 11th at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in their California hometown.
The musical is a collaboration between the band and Michael Mayer who is the director of the musical Spring Awakening, which recently opened in London.
Mayer speaks:
"It was very much in my head all that time (during Spring Awakening). Sometimes I really would say things like, "Why can’t this have a groove like 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams'?""
Bille Joe speaks:
"It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s what I love about it. When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream."
