Billy Talent, Glasgow Barrowlands
The band were met with a raucous response before tearing through this classic and declaring "Do you know how much we've missed Scotland?" As it turns out, Scotland missed them a hell of a lot too.
With the upcoming homegrown quintet Canterbury and fellow Canadian madmen Cancer Bats in their support, Billy Talent had quite the expectation to live up to. Following two energetic sets - and one frontman who seemed more comfortable laying atop the crowd than onstage - the wait for the headliners was ended as the shredding opening to 'Devil in a Midnight Mass' filled the room.

Consuming the entire Barrowland Ballroom with their exuberant light show, the band delivered performance after performance that kept everyone going wild. With their definitive sound and outstanding stage presence, Billy Talent wowed the entire audience, impressing fans that added this to their tally of shows and those experiencing the band for the first time.
Even the reluctant dad of the crowd was captured by this performance. Originally telling his son he was only here to keep an eye on him, the music tore right through him and provoked some toe tapping and singing along to the occasional lyric he picked up. Proof enough that this band doesn't just impress their fan base - they can draw everyone in with their talents.
The only calmer note was granted as Benjamin dedicated a never before played song to a friend he'd lost, subduing the crowd for a moment before continuing at their usual speed.
With a high bar set by their support bands, Billy Talent not only matched what was expected, but smashed right through it, including crowd pleasers such as 'River Below' and 'Fallen Leaves' along the way. For this show, we saw an incredible band with an outstanding live performance. Just like this time, it's suspected that Scotland will miss them until they return once more.
