How different was this gig at Fibbers from the last time, did you feel different being on stage with more people watching?
It wasn't really a difference based on the amount of people that were there. It was different in that before it was similar to sort of a light awkwardness when you first meet someone that you are fond of... And this time it was bolder, it was more like people who knew and remembered each other and were making up lost time together.
How different are your UK fans to the US fans?
There is the obvious, English are quite different than Americans. But musically there is an edge here in the UK; and a lot of it is an island situation - you don't have mass amounts of land for people to wander away from metropolis areas and start falling off of creative society. It's so very difficult to try to save everyone in America because it's such a massive country with millions of people who don't always have the luxury of a Radio One to listen to or an NME club night to dance at. Half of the States are lucky to even have decent venues for bands to play at so America has to work twice as hard to show her own bands to her own people.
What kind of person is a Shiny Toy Guns fan?
A person who has even just the tiniest relation to something that we also relate too. Even if it's a few fine hairs on the back of their neck.
How is the band looking forward to Reading / Leeds? Do you enjoy festival settings?
We love Festivals. There are tons in America we have played; and over here so far we have only played T in the Park. Reading and Leeds I anticipate will be something of a life-changing event for us. I have never seen such stars in the eyes of English girls when they tell stories of these festivals; it's like Christmas almost to them.
If you could say anything to Shiny Toy Guns fans in the UK personally, what would it be?
I would tell them how proud we are that they are holding fast to what we are trying to do, even if radio and press continue to hold fast to Razorlight and The Killers, something amazing that happened in England several years ago.
What do you like most about the North of England?
The shaved heads, the rugby fans, the amazing accents, the iron angel, and towns that American bands don't play that much that we adore as much as London - like Hull, Sunderland and Huddersfield. And Sheffield has GORGEOUS girls. And of course York. The whole damn county is hot.
