Canterbury
We speak to Canterbury ahead of their UK tour which kicks off this weekend!
Canterbury hit the road this weekend for a rotating headline UK tour with The Hot Melts and This City.
We managed to grab them whilst they were getting set, and ask them a few pertinent questions...
Rocklouder: Hello Canterbury. How are you today?
Canterbury: Hello, we're all pretty sweet on this windy February morn thank you!
RL:Where do we find you? Are you shouting at mum to finish all your washing and getting ready for tour?
C: Haha, I think we're all pretty much in an anxious state of boredom. Clothes and stuff aren't needed yet as we're traveling home for the first 3/4 nights, but a bag has been found and washes have been done.
RL: On a scale of 1-10 how excited are you for the shows coming up with The Hot Melts and This City?
C: A good solid 9 I reckon. It's been nearly 2 months since we played a show.
RL: You've been touring quite a lot in the last year or so. What towns are you favourite to play the hits?
C: High Wycombe, Newcastle, Basingstoke and Leeds were all favourited last year.
RL: Can you give us any inside info on your album? We hear it might be recorded and done... are there plans yet for the release or is it just lots of touring and playing to the kids at the moment?
C: It was mostly all recorded in November/December 2007, which seems like an eternity ago now. We just want a bigger fanbase to release it to, so more and more people can hear it, so we thought we'd try and collect some fans from our live show. 'Eleven, Twelve' is going to be our first proper single release off it right at the begining of April.
RL: Your internet TV show 'This Is Canterbury' was so far ahead of its time when you started (bravo) but now there are quite a few bands that do it. No-one seems to have quite got it right like you chaps though. What's the secret to a bloody good webisode?
C: That's very kind of you to say! Keep it short and sweet and keep the camera on you as much as you can because who knows when internet TV gold may strike! ha.
RL: Last off, can you give us 5 records that you are 'digging' at the moment and playing in the van a lot. Don't be shy, we all love the new Lily Allen album too...
C: We haven't been vanning much since last year as it's not always a luxury we can afford, but the big dog albums went down well at the end of last year. Kings Of Leon - 'Only By The Night', The Killers - 'Day & Age'... the Prebbles' kitchen is a place we're often gathered. The View's new album is loved by some, unashamed and out loud too I can say we were diggin' The Script's debut the other day, and number 5... thinking back, Silverchair's 'Young Modern' was on a lot at the end of last year.
RL: Finally, is there anything else you'd like to add?
C: Come and see us at a show and if you haven't already downloaded our free tunes get on it!
