Martyn Joseph is currently in the middle of touring the UK (if you're lucky, you've still got time to catch him!), but we still managed to grab him for a few minutes to see what else he's up to.

So, what have you been up to recently?
Came off the road Dec 3rd, had a hip replacement op Dec 6th, left for Canada/USA Jan 26th, played 27 shows there in 31 days, now in the middle of UK tour... er, that's about it

Tell us more about 'Deep Blue' and the controversial new Greenbelt CD.
'Deep Blue' has been out a year or so now and done well, like most of my recent records it has its twists in sound as I like to let the music evolve though at its heart are one take acoustic performances. The 'Greenbelt Live' album is 'Deep Blue' toured and built upon for a year, a passioned one man gig with stupid controversy at the end because I told a right wing fundamentalist TV evangelist where to go... can't see what the fuss is about, more folk should try it...

How has the tour been so far?
Really good, crowds are great and we are having fun and getting serious too. Am enjoying having Miranda Sykes fill out the sound on double bass and the great Martin Sexton (USA) opening and playing the UK for the first time.

What can people who haven't seen you on this tour yet expect from the final few shows?
See above really. I'm a little more chilled right now, smelling the flowers as it were. New songs as well as old faves. There have been no complaints so far!

Having played events such as Greenbelt, how does it feel to be playing these much smaller, more intimate shows?
Whatever the venue or crowd size the object is the same; create a sense of community in the room and more of a friendly dinner party than a me up here and you out there vibe. That's the object whether it's 10,000 or 100.

What's the plan for the rest of 2007?
Festivals in the summer, record new studio album and spend some more time with my beautiful tribe at home.
