Artist Of The Year: #4 - Gallows

Gallows were obviously gonna be high up this list. We couldn't put their stunning debut album in the albums of the year because we're pedants; we thought about giving it album of the year becuase it was 're-released this year', and then we tried the 'but it was released in America this year' line, but we're just too ethically superior to get away with that i'm afraid.

We can however put them in the top 5 of our artists of the year because (a) they're fucking amazing and we love them, but mainly because (b) after seeing them playing a support slot at the Old Blue Last at the end of december last year, they finish this year having signed to the Warner Records, signed to the legendary Epitaph Records in america, they were THE must see band on this summer's Warped Tour, and they just the other week played Brixton Academy on Taste Of Chaos, after selling out numerous UK tours along the way.

Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion dubbed their album the most important punk rock record since Refused released 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' and we couldn't agree more!

2008 will really see these guys fly!
