Alert: The Orders

When we say Joy Division inspired, we really mean it.

The Orders

Who?
Helsinki-based former Dive boys - Lauri Koski (vox/guitar), Heikki Karjalainen (guitar), Janne Nissilä (bass) and Joel Holopainen (drums) combine their forces once again as the Joy Division inspired The Orders. As Dive they were a cult-obsession band, and have even recorded a song for a movie, although they decided some time between 2003 and now to change their name, image, everything, to become The Orders - and it seems the transformation will only serve them well.

What's The Deal?
When we say Joy Division inspired, we really mean it. They set out to sound like the 21st century's answer to them and they've succeeded better than Interpol or Editors ever could.

Will I Like It?
If you either adore or hate Joy Division with equal passion, you should still give these guys a chance. Yes, they have far too many links to them than wise (one song on their EP is even titled 'Desperation Takes Hold'), and by all rights should be terrible, but they're exactly the opposite, and will find themselves to be must-have listening before 2008 rings in. Expect them to be in constant rotation at your local indie night very, very soon.

What's Next?
The lads currently have a self-titled EP, available to buy in their native Finland in record stores or as downloads for the more digitally advanced or further a field. Their debut album, 'Guilt and Confusion' is out early in the new year (January 12th) and will probably be followed by some tour dates - let's hope some are in England!
