Velvet Revolver, blank cartriges.

re: Velvet Revolver to split?!?

So things are looking bad for Velvet Revolver

pffffft

Good riddance.
Talented musicians playing tired music for dads that used to like metal.

Weiland came across as a complete c#ck in that statement,
And such petty behaviour spilling out for their fans to see is a mark of a band that shouldn’t be together.
I’d love to see them get shot of Weiland, but they’d lose out on a big part of the star-factor.
(which is basically the draw, right? or is it all those power ballads?)
If anything, it’d just be nice to see a band with Slash in that gets in the music press for what they’re doing music-wise, rather than for various trips to rehab, court or jail. That was exciting in the 80’s lads, now fans want a bit more from their bands than being wasted and getting caught breakin tha lawww breakin tha laww. If we wanted drinkordrug-addled wasters making music from the past that get’s hailed as ‘classic’, we’d be fans of Winehouse and Doherty.

(in Klaus from American Dad voice) That’s right retro-lovers, come get me. Feel free to wear your pretentious hats.

Oh, wait, I was ranting about Velvet Revolver, wasn’t I?

What’ll happen then?
Perhaps Sorum will ‘quit’ the band, the scathing tone of Weiland’s comment makes me think this quite likely,
but then there’s the Stone Temple Pilots reunion
A far better use of his time, and probably of his VR bandmate’s time, too.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
I, for one… don’t care all that much…

PS: if I buy guitar hero, will Slash really rip his way out from inside me? ‘Cause i’m not sure i’d want that.

Rocklouder at the movies…

A week or so ago I was lucky enough to be invited to my first film premiere. Not a glitzy red carpet London event with Hollywood stars, but there’s a part of me that’s kinda happy about that. No, sir, this was Pontypridd, and I was there to see local film-maker Tony Evan’s half hour film The Legend Of Don Williams.

The reason this is of relevance to Rocklouder is that six of the actors involved are more familiar to us as The Lostprophets, and I was lucky enough to be granted an interview with guitarist Mike Lewis. I was struck by how down to earth the guy was, and by how patient – in the midst of preparing their new album and briefly back in his home town around old friends before he has to race back to London, I expected clipped answers and constant clock watching. Instead he answered fully and we nearly went off on one about transformers.

The film itself was great, packing more into half an hour than you’d expect. The boys may not be in the running for the Oscars just yet, but did a better job of it than you’d expect, plus however insane the quiff, Watkins is one of the most photogenic people you’ll find. Best of all, it manages to be a promising piece of Welsh film that doesn’t play up to obvious stereotypes. Although there is a Tom Jones lookalike involved…

The interview came out well and should be up in a matter of days
For now have a look at Tony’s website to keep tabs on how it does at festivals and see trailers for the film.

things are gonna change…

that’s right folks!

the blogs page here at rocklouder is about to get pretty bloody exciting.

apart from the redesign to make it look super-slick, there’s a whole host of celebrity (and some not so celebrity) blogs that are going live over the next few days and weeks!

check back over the next few days to see the changes start!

Local music rocks!

There are so many great, unsigned bands out there and I’m willing to bet some of them are right on your doorstep! I’ve only been in Huddersfield for 3 months and already I’ve seen some amazing bands.

Do yourselves a favour and pop down to your local venue and show some love your local bands.

Do us a favour too and tell us about them!

So, i saw Future Of The Left…

…on Thursday.

They’re a fantastic band, and one well worth investigating.

Their album’s out at the end of the month but if you see them on tour you might get your mitts on ‘Curses’ a bit early.

It would be a good idea, as it’s f*cking brilliant.

There was also Viva Machine, of which you’ll soon see an interview and live review. Having seen them supporting The Automatic last October we knew they were good, but it didn’t prepare us for the unbelievable performance they put on in Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach.

In other news, Rugby World Cup time, and after this Rocklouderite shouted at the TV until Wales won, he’s hoping the same thing will happen when they play Australia…………….
:-\

Can someone clear something up for me?

What’s the story between Kate Nash and Jack Penate?

I can’t quite work it out and Google doesn’t seem to know.

Hands up who’s looking forward to the Carling Festival?

I am, I am, I am.
