The Dear & Departed Lose 2 Members
Artist profile:
The Dear & Departed
The Dear & Departed have announced that they've parted ways with David and Joel - their bassist and drummer respectively.
Dan, Darren and new guitarist Matt posted the following blog earlier in the week:
"Hello prettys,
We hope all of you are keeping well and happy and are preparing for the summer months that are no doubt on their way now! I just thought id write a little something as im sure you all aware that we have been fairly quiet since getting back from the Tiger Army tour.
After meeting a couple of days ago with everyone, we collectively decided that Joel and David won't continue to play with us. This was a decision reached by everyone and has obviously had alot of thought put into it. Recently Steve Hewitt and Placebo parted ways ways after 11 years, and Brian Molko went on to say something i think explains our situation too.
"Being in a band is very much like being in a marriage. To say that you don't love your partner anymore is inaccurate, considering all that you've been through and achieved together. There simply comes a point when you realize that you want different things from your relationship and that you can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak."
In many cases, decisions like this result in loss of friendships and bad blood, and im glad to say there is none, and we wish them happiness in whatever they decide to do in life.
Darren and myself have always written together and now that the wonderboy Matt has been added to the mix, we think we have what is easily the best stuff to date. I know youre all going to love the new songs and we are so excited to get back and see you all and play them for you!!! Stay tuned and keep in touch!! If any Canadians are bored over the next few weeks, come out to a City and Colour and Black Lungs show to say hi!! Ill be doing the tour with them and they definitely put on a show you cannot afford to miss!!
Love
Dan
Darren
Matt"
