So, I did a thing for MTV not so long ago where you pick 10 of your favourite videos. You pick your 10 favourites and then they have 1 of them, and a couple they didn't pick really surprised me, so i'm pleased I get a chance to talk about it now.

I absoutely fell in love with the record that Emily Haines did about 2 years ago. I like Metric but i'm not what i'd call a fan and it's just not totally my thing, but her solo record - 'Knives Don't Have Your Back' - is probably my favourite record of the last 2 years.

After a lot of listening, I just started to finally step away from it, and then when i was looking for videos i thought 'i'll look and see if Emily Haines has any videos' and I found the 2 videos that she did for that record. I have to say, they are so most damaged, disturbing, and deeply wrong! They're for the first 2 songs on the record - there's one for 'Dr. Blind' and one for 'Our Hell' - and the 'Our Hell' video is especially like that. It's either all shot in negative or x-ray, i'm not sure, but everybody is in dark clothes on a white screen, sometimes partially clothed too. I mean, I could only watch it twice and then I had to put it away. It's just fucking heavy. It's really, really heavy.

And then the video for 'Dr. Blind' is this lonely, devasatating, huge cinematic department store disaster. It's really incredible, and really weird.

These are 2 videos that I just totally adaore and haven't had any opportunity to rave at anyone about! It's a really beautiful record, her writing is so good.
