Producing catchy, guitar led rock with heartfelt pop overtones is only one of Coheed And Cambria’s many attributes. The fact that they can make this sound work within a conceptual progressive context only furthers this band’s appeal to a potentially gigantic audience. New single ‘Feathers’ is the latest product to come out of the Coheed saga and will surely act as pulling power for those curious ears not yet convinced by it all.

The opening riff will send you back to an early eighties hair metal era before their trademark epic chorus glides in from nowhere to sweep you off your feet. There’s even time for a technically sublime guitar solo before Sanchez and co bring it all back together for a show stopping finale.

Subtle enough to make you wonder what the fuss is about but with the moreish qualities of a Class A drug, greatness surely awaits these New York behemoths.
