Lostprophets Go To The Movies!
Artist profile:
Lostprophets
You might know them better for rocking out Arenas across the planet, but amidst preparing themselves for this year's new album, Lostprophets have taken part in a short film.
The 'Prophets were brought into the film by director Tony Evans, who went to school with most of the band. Finishing a masters at the International Film School of Wales in Newport, here's what the director has to say to Rocklouder about the film:
"The ‘Legend Of Don Williams’ is a noir style folk tale set in a caricatured Pontypridd. It follows a lonely hotel pianist who, in the wake of his singer's murder, orchestrates a chain of events resulting in ridding Pontypridd of the notorious 'Taffia' but not without sacrifice.
The aim is to make a film in Wales that isn't a clichéd or stereotypical vision of the country. A film that isn't just an 'in joke' to those from the area, a film that can be enjoyed by anyone and to show that films made in Wales can be interesting and different."
Premièring last night (Feb 19th) to a select audience, Tony hopes to take the film to festivals and competitions over the next year.
We're assuming that getting to be Welsh mafia on the silver screen won't lure the boys away from their music career, though, especially as the upcoming release (scheduled for this summer) could well be one of the albums of 2008!
