Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. - I Spy / Call Me Ishmael
Artist profile: Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Release Date: 10/07/06
Label: Atlantic
Rating: ***

'I Spy' / 'Call Me Ishmael' is the first release from Essex youngster Sam Duckworth on new label Atlantic, and it's a great indie-pop effort with folk-influenced soft melodies and great acoustic guitar riffs.

"If you don't care what I'm singing about" moans Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. in 'I Spy', and despite his youth, the music shows a definite maturity, and real passion. We can definitely care what he's singing about.

Both tracks have great acoustic production, though sometimes show traces of the likes of Hard-Fi or Starsailor.

The delicateness of 'I Spy' is really catchy and emotive; if you like Damien Rice and the tenderness in his voice, you'll definitely love this.

Melanie Lapierre
