Fall Out Boy - The Take Over, The Breaks Over
Artist profile: Fall Out Boy

Release Date: 02/02/07
Label: Mercury Records
Rating: ***

It's hard to dislike the third single 'The Take Over, The Breaks Over' taken from 'Infinity On High'. Fall Out Boy certainly have their formula nailed down now, and this polished example of how to make an emo pop hit is certainly catchy. Not as catchy, however, as the previous singles but it more than makes up for this by bringing out the big guns in a power rock main chorus, the perfect vehicle for Patrick Stump's vocals, and drums pounded so hard that Andy Hurley may as well be striking your ear drums, besides passion can make up where a song may otherwise be lacking.

Well, mostly anyway. By the end of the track you get that "oh it's just a Fall Out Boy song" feeling and start looking forward to the next thing you will hear. After all their oh-so-good formula is starting to get repetitive now. But do we care? Not really no, they are the sweet snack of music, enjoy it while it lasts.
