Festival Interview: Drive By Argument
Artist profile: Drive By Argument

We've been very busy recently rounding up bands to find out what festivals they're playing, who they're going to be watching on stage, and what their best festival experiences have been. The result? A series of Festival Interviews. This here's the seventh in the series, but keep your eyes peeled over the Summer for many many more!

Hello Colin (guitar / synth)! Which festivals are you be playing this year?
So far we have Middlesbrough Music Live, Download, Rockness, T in the park, The Secret Garden Party festival... and headlining Glastonbury main stage too... errr... maybe.

Which of those is your favourite?
Hard to say! Each festival has its own unique qualities, but I reckon T in the Park or Rockness solely because they're Scottish - home turf!

Are there any other bands playing festivals you're especially looking forward to seeing?
Loads! In particular I'd say Arcade Fire, Daft Punk and Soulwax. Be interesting to see My Chemical Romance at T too. I wonder how their big, dark, creepy stage show will go down on a bright, sunny, Scottish evening?

Which band would you be least happy clashing stage times with?
Any of the aforementioned bands! Or just generally any band that's going to steal our fans.

What has been your best festival experience so far?
T in the Park every year is amazing but I'm going to say Belladrum last year. It was the first time we'd all been to it and the general atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was just walking about talking to people they'd never met before like they were best mates, it was so chilled. Belladrum is definitely a festival to watch out for.

What are your 3 essential festival items to pack in your rucksack?
Cereal bars (despite the fine cuisine available at the festivals), socks (when the time comes, you'll know) and an inflatable sheep - dolled up in make up and stockings.

Have you ever lost anything at a festival?
My morals and insanity. Each year they descend from my mind, crawl through the pores in my hands and scamper. They don't usually return until roughly the following Tuesday - ashamed and appalled at my actions - but taking me in with forgiving arms nonetheless.

If you were to give anyone advice for going to their first ever festival, what would it be?
Seriously, socks. Take the socks! And go wild because you might only get it once a year.

Drive By Argument's new single 'Sex Lines Are Expensive Comedy' is released on June 25th.
