Supergrass
Headlining on the first night of Britain's premier up-and-coming festival are those Britpop tykes Supergrass. The band are currently stronger than ever, with their critically acclaimed album 'Road to Rouen' displaying their ability to produce darker material alongside their popier 90s hits. Currently working on a new album, the Oxfordshire quartet have been hailed as one of Britain's best live exports, as well as having had six consecutive Top 10 albums, all of which have attained Gold or Platinum status. Despite over a decade in the industry they have lost none of their innate sense of fun, with the GuilFest crowd promised many of the bands biggest hits, including the classics 'Pumping On Your Stereo', 'Alright' and 'Richard III', as well as later singles 'St Petersburg', 'Low C' and 'Fin'.

Squeeze
These original New Wavers will be headlining the main stage on Saturday July 14th and is the only chance you'll have this year to catch the founder members Glen Tilbrook and Chris Difford performing together as Squeeze, the last time being all the way back in 1998! The baying crowd can expect to hear hits such as 'Cool for Cats', 'Up the Junction' and 'Black Coffee In Bed', with the band promising to roll out the classics from their new compilation: 'Essential Squeeze'.

Madness
Everyone's favourite British ska band are back in the spotlight, with a headlining slot on the last night of this year's festival the perfect note to end the weekend on. Spending more weeks in the UK chart than any other group in the 1980s, with twenty-one top-twenty singles in a seven year period from '78-'86, Suggs and Co have been producing music for us to jive to for over three decades now. Currently in the studio recording original material for their new album to be released this year, you can expect to hear some fresh new tracks, as well as classics like 'Baggy Trousers', 'It Must Be Love' and 'House of Fun'.

Thirteen Senses
Thirteen Senses are the first and only Cornish band to have a top 20 single, so have already achieved record breaker status as mere fledglings. However, their panoramic and elegant music promises to enthrall from the first listen, with the band compared to other soothing South Coast acts such as the Delays, The Thrills and Keane. Most famously known for single 'Into the Fire', the band's sound has shot to prominence both here and across the Atlantic due to its use in numerous TV shows, including BBC's Match of the Day, Grey's Anatomy and E.R. The new album 'Contact' claims to be "a lot harder and grittier", as they claim to "want everyone to know who Thirteen Senses are". You certainly will if you pop along to Guildford on 13th July...

Howling Bells
Howling Bells are a four-piece Australian band based in England, who include the brother-sister combo of Joel and Juanita Stein. The latter provides the band with its distinctive sound, with their musical style flitting from pop, to rock, to country in their startling self-titled debut album. Howling Bells are no newcomers to the festival scene, with last summer seeing them pick up hoards of new fans through their Reading/Leeds performances. They have recently finished supporting both The Killers and Placebo around Europe, as well as Snow Patrol on their Australian tour, so you may even spot some big-name fans in the audience.

Dykeenies
The Dykeenies are an indie-pop band formed in Cumbernauld, Scotland, comprising of brothers Alan, Andrew and Brian Henderson, as well as childhood friends Steven Ramsay and John Kerr. The band have already supported Northern giants the Fratellis, Maximo Park and Mystery Jets on tour, with the NME nabbing them to appear on the Rock N Roll Riot tour earlier this year. Although have only released one single, 'New Ideas', earlier this year, big things await this band from deepest darkest Scotland.

Yourcodenameis:milo
YCNI:M's rapturously-received debut 'Ignoto' in 2005 came deservedly after being touted as the 'next big thing' in the underground scene for what seemed like an age. Early fans included The Automatic, Bloc Party and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, which led to their indefinable mangle of post-punk, hardcore and protest folk being channeled into an album deal with V2 and the release of the critically-acclaimed 'Print Is Dead Vol. 1'. Expect to see the 'Milo-tary', who are their substantial army of fans, out in force, as the band perform crowd-pleasers such as 'Understand', 'Screaming Ground' and 'Wait a Minute'. Cash in on the year of YourCodeNameIs:Milo whilst you can; next year they may be on a pedestal so high you'll have to squint to see them.

Pull Tiger Tail
These London-based Stratford-Upon-Avon emigrants have a tough act to follow, that's true. Originally in a short-lived band with Simon Taylor-Davis and James Righton of Klaxons back in 2004, the success of the New Ravers could be an indication of the future that awaits Pull Tiger Tail. Debut single 'Animator' evokes the feelings we first had in the 'Discovery'-era of Daft Punk, with their live set promising to be an explosive affair, the band describing their own performances as "an arms race". Watch out Soviet Russia, these guys are on the war path.

Guilfest takes place from July 13th - 15th in Guildford. For more line-up information click here.
