Drive By Argument - The Sega Method
Artist profile: Drive By Argument

Release Date: 05/03/07
Label: Rhythm King
Rating: ***

During the opening seconds, it would be easy to write off Scottish quintet Drive By Argument as just another indie band.

However, within moments it becomes clear this is not quite the case; think Maximo Park if their keyboardist traded in his organ for a Mega Drive. Aptly named 'The Sega Method', this jaunty number features an electro melody that you'd be forgiven for thinking had come straight from a game of Sonic. This combined with a frenetic guitar riff, heartfelt vocals and dance-inducing cymbals result in a tune that will stick in your head for days.

Unfortunately, it's more than a little familiar lyrical content are the main downfall. Cue tales of newly realised love met with trepidation that we've heard a million times before. In spite of this, it does manage to compensate a good deal with its sheer unadulterated catchiness.

It's hardly ground-breaking, but still a reasonably well crafted amalgamation of styles resulting in what's sure to be an indie-disco dance-floor filler nonetheless.
