Teen noise-pop duo impress with their new EP
Bloody hell, this teenage duo make a racket. Luckily it’s a good racket, so we can forgive them that ridiculous title (in full it’s 'I Hope This All Works Out So I Can Stop Standing On Even Amounts Of Manholes In The Street'). An eclectic mix of influences feed into a noise that brings to mind Rolo Tomassi, Yourcodenameis:milo, 65daysofstatic, Gay For Johnny Depp and even masked loons Lightning Bolt, but mash it all together to create their own voice. On paper that might sound like it’ll get too messy, but run, Walk!’s tracks are structured, just giving the impression of chaos. Opener ‘Back Of My Mind’ is a frenetic assault on the senses while highlight ‘N.B.Y’ has a menacing vibe – reminiscent of ycni:milo’s more measured moments – that explodes to life for its finale. It’s a frantic EP and one that points towards a bright, noisy future for this young duo.
